First Thing which you need to know is that you need to chose the right parts for this, if you chose the wrong parts it can cause as minor of a issue such as bad MPG (L/100km) and be as serious as Missfires -> Knock -> Blown Engine. Because of this make sure that you make measurements accordingly as to not damage you're car.
Throttlebody Outer Diameter - 75mm
MAF Sensor Tube Has to be - 83-86mm (85mm preferred)
Filter has to have minimal restriction, otherwise car will Misfire which again is really bad for the car and will eventually cause engine damage or catalic converter damage. I would suggest using large filter as example 100ID x 150OD x 200H.
I suggest using something like:
Aluminum pipe which is 85mm inside diameter, 500mm long.
Foam Cone Air Filter with minimal air restriction and depending where you want to fit it, you need to chose a filter which can fit in that space (Foam filters can adapt from round to oval shape so they can be used on tight fit locations)
In my car I used a saw to cut off the tube next to air box with MAF sensor, and connected that with aluminum alloy pipe which goes past radiator in to filter, that way I didn't need any welding done to fit the MAF sensor on the new tube.
Total cost of the project = 70-100$
There also are other options for air intakes if you wish to get rid of the big old air box mazda put in from factory.
